BALLET PRELJOCAJ Music – Igor Stravinsky Choreography - Angelin Preljocaj

For this France-Russia year and to commemorate the centenary of the Ballets Russes, here are two of their masterworks, universally acclaimed and supported by Stravinsky’s revolutionary music. Love and death, cannibal love and absolute love are the key elements of these two legendary ballets. For Les Noces, Angelin Preljocaj has created a galaxy of aerial duos which encounter terrestrial reality, metaphorical brides and grooms carried away by their passions. Against this, his Rite is a whirlwind around a sacrificed queen who shall be stripped naked in this immense animal “climax” constructed by Stravinsky, with the orchestral plenitude which opens 20th century music. After the dazzling success of “Blanche Neige” [White Snow] last year, Preljocaj is back and ready to win the hearts of the public at Versailles.
